Less Invasive Security

posted by Safety-Number1

wireless-security-camerasWhether you want to check in on the kids downstairs, or just monitor your home when you’re out and about, wireless is the way to go. With a wireless security camera you can plant it in any location and receive a signal to your computer or device giving you an up to date picture.

The nice thing about wireless security is that it is non-invasive. It doesn’t require the installation of wires, and the camera or device can be moved freely to different locations.
Wireless security cameras are great for monitoring anything from the car in your driveway, to the mouse trap in the basement.

How GPS Tracking Works

posted by Camera Man 1

GPS

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite navigation system developed and maintained by the U.S. government. Initially designed for military applications, civilian users have found numerous applications using GPS.

On March 29, 1996, a Presidential Decision Directive (PDD) was signed by President Clinton that described GPS as an international information utility. The PDD included the following directives:

- The U.S. government will continue to operate, maintain and provide basic GPS signals worldwide, free of direct user fees.

- The U.S. will advocate the acceptance of GPS and it’s augmentations as a standard for use by initiating international discussions and agreement with Japan and Europe.

How GPS Works
Radio signals are sent from orbiting satellites to earth. GPS tracking devices on the ground can collect and convert the radio signals into position, velocity, and time information.

Some GPS tracking receivers have the ability to store attribute information in addition to position information. Examples of attribute information are the condition of a street sign, the name of a road, or the condition of a fire hydrant. Position and attribute information can be stored in a Geographic Information System (GIS) to help users manage their assets more efficiently.

Last month, in East Point Georgia, the First Mallalieu United Methodist Church caught on fire and on the Video Surveillance Camera System. No one was hurt in the fire and the church didn’t burn to the ground but it did receive some damage. According East Point police and fire department, the fire was an arson, set by an unknown man.

The church security system caught video of a man dressed in glasses and a black jacket, carrying what looked to be a gas can on church grounds. Authorities have released still photos from the security camera system of the man to the media, in hopes that someone will identify him and an arrest can be made.

Proving security is important in all public places. Most people may not think of a church as a place that needs security cameras, any public place where large crowds gather can be a target of crime. And as with any place, there are important things to remember when you set up your church Security Camera System.

posted by Safety-Number1

lookerfrontIf you need to watch what is going on at home while you are away, today you can get hidden spy cameras which will fit right in with your things at home.  People will not give a second look at the stuffed animal on book shelf or the CD player sitting in the living room. These are wireless cameras with a 2.4 GHz receiver.

They come available in a variety of housings including a book or a smoke detector.  Also if you need a portable hidden spy camera you can get a pen camera which will go with anywhere you want and is a real working ball point pen. It is reassuring that we can watch our children or personal belongings when we cannot be there.

4 Wireless Security Camera System with DVR and Monitor

4 Wireless Security Camera System with DVR and Monitor

The technology involving surveillance and security cameras has evolved so much. Look at analog CCTV cameras that were used 10-15 years ago and you’ll see the difference between them and the modern digital security cameras.  Look for old recording devices used for surveillance and you’ll get the same comparison.

Today, you’ve got the Digital Video Recording system and cameras. The cameras are more sophisticated – smaller in size but definitely bigger in functions. In most cases, if you are going to install Security Camera System for your home, you’ll have securitycameras which will be wired to the DVR system. Many Home owners are purchasing wireless security cameras to go with their DVR systems. In fact, wireless cameras are becoming quite popular among home security camera systems. Why?  The fact that most homes don’t have easily accessible walls, doors, windows, basements or attics for wired camera systems.

With the rapid innovation in technology, companies have been able to develop various choices in affordable surveillance systems so that more homes can be secured and equipped with one. These surveillance gadgets have also been simplified for easy installation and use.

One big reason why a home video surveillance system has become so popular is the rising rate of crimes in homes. People are being more cautious and they want to make sure that they keep their family safe.  And one thing to do so is by having a surveillance system installed in their homes. Among the most popular surveillance device is the hidden surveillance cameras. These concealed cameras work by recording every activity in a home without letting anybody know that they are being watched.

Sitter SpyWare

nanny-cameraInstalling a nanny camera can prevent your childcare professional from engaging in activities you wouldn’t approve of. Even when parents know the nanny or babysitter they are justified in their desire to for constant surveillance. There have been many instances in the recent news in which children are harmed by their caretakers; and no parent wants to see that happen to their own kids.

For families that have a regular nanny it is recommended that they let the nanny know they are installing a camera. A trusted nanny won’t welcome the surprise of finding a hidden video camera. Explain to your childcare professional that the camera is just a precaution and meant to protect them and your children.

What is a Board Camera?

posted by Safety-Number1

board-camerasBoard cameras are essentially just a tiny surveillance camera. A board camera viewfinder operates through a pinhole-sized opening. If they also have what is called a “board lens”, more light is allowed to come in and provides slightly better picture resolution, but a board lens requires a larger viewing hole of about ½”.

One of the keys to the effectiveness of any surveillance system is being inconspicuous. You can find an assortment of board cameras that appear to be clock radios and cordless phones, as well as many other hidden camera options such as a teddy bear, pen holder, cigarette pack and many more.

GPS Watch and Portable Tracking Device
GPS Watch and Portable Tracking Device

A great idea in locating Alzheimer’s patients is to use a GPS tracking device. Since a good portion of those that suffer from this form of dementia do wander off at some point.  An elderly relative who appears to be healthy and sane but is unable to remember the recent history can be disturbing. Alzheimer’s patients sometimes suffer greatly when they are lost and separated from their loved ones and familiar surroundings. The real time GPS watch tracking systems are designed to help track down Alzheimer’s suffers quickly so that they can be returned to comfortable and safe surroundings.

GPS tracking watches for Alzheimer’s patients work well because they are attached to the wrist and if the patient has had a long history of wearing a wrist watch they should have no problem wearing this GPS device. If they do not regularly wear a watch then it might be difficult to get them to do so on their own. If this is the case you might want to pursue other avenues of tracking them or talk with your doctor to come up with ideas on how to introduce a GPS watch into their life.

Giving Parents Peace of Mind

posted by Safety-Number1

gpsLast month, the story of a young boy from Colorado soaring rapidly through the clouds in a homemade balloon captured the imaginations of many nostalgic Americans. It also seized on every parent’s worst fears. Fortunately, the story turned out to be an apparent hoax cooked up to serve as publicity for a potential reality television series. Still, the incident convinced people to take a moment and consider the dangers of leaving their children unattended for extended periods of time.

Personal GPS tracking watches are capable of alerting parents about their children’s precise location at all times. Whether the little ones are away at school, spending the night at a friend’s house or traveling across country to visit relatives, they are never completely out of contact. Any device that can ensure peace of mind for a parent and safety for a child deserves to be mentioned.
