Last month, in East Point Georgia, the First Mallalieu United Methodist Church caught on fire and on the Video Surveillance Camera System. No one was hurt in the fire and the church didn’t burn to the ground but it did receive some damage. According East Point police and fire department, the fire was an arson, set by an unknown man.

The church security system caught video of a man dressed in glasses and a black jacket, carrying what looked to be a gas can on church grounds. Authorities have released still photos from the security camera system of the man to the media, in hopes that someone will identify him and an arrest can be made.

Proving security is important in all public places. Most people may not think of a church as a place that needs security cameras, any public place where large crowds gather can be a target of crime. And as with any place, there are important things to remember when you set up your church Security Camera System.

4 Wireless Security Camera System with DVR and Monitor

4 Wireless Security Camera System with DVR and Monitor

The technology involving surveillance and security cameras has evolved so much. Look at analog CCTV cameras that were used 10-15 years ago and you’ll see the difference between them and the modern digital security cameras.  Look for old recording devices used for surveillance and you’ll get the same comparison.

Today, you’ve got the Digital Video Recording system and cameras. The cameras are more sophisticated – smaller in size but definitely bigger in functions. In most cases, if you are going to install Security Camera System for your home, you’ll have securitycameras which will be wired to the DVR system. Many Home owners are purchasing wireless security cameras to go with their DVR systems. In fact, wireless cameras are becoming quite popular among home security camera systems. Why?  The fact that most homes don’t have easily accessible walls, doors, windows, basements or attics for wired camera systems.

On Oct 1, 2009 around 100 concerned business owners and residents met to discuss requiring security cameras in some Bibb County businesses, a proposal launched in the wake of several store-related slayings.

The Bibb County commission chairman, wanted the people to tell him what they want. Due to the fact security cameras can help deter or help solve crimes, and they helped lead police to arrests in the two Bibb County slayings.

Bibb County commission chairman is continuing to work with the county attorney on a draft ordinance concerning Security Camera Systems. The draft is only a starting point for these discussions. He said he didn’t know whether the draft would require business security cameras, indoor cameras as well as outdoor cameras, or whether security cameras be required in businesses with an alcohol license or in all businesses. He also stated the sheriff’s department wants minimum standards for the Security Camera Systems and cameras to ensure that the video is usable.

We find ourselves working after dark in order to get everything accomplished, at home or at work. Next time you find yourself out late, wouldn’t you feel safer knowing your office or home was equipped with a night vision security camera? A night vision security camera provides clear images no matter what kind of lighting conditions it’s placed in.

A simple wireless security camera system takes hardly any time at all to install. All you have to do is pick the proper angles of surveillance and plug the camera into the receiver, which then transmits a feed to your DVR, television or computer.

You may be asking yourself if a night vision security camera is worth the cost. The answer is a resounding “Yes!” You can purchase a wireless security camera system that you use every day for a year for a cost that equals just a few dollars a week, if that. For the price of a magazine or a latte per week, you, your fellow coworkers, and/or your family can relax in knowing that all activity in any poorly lit areas is being monitored by a camera system.

Internet security camera technology is changing the way retailers can monitor their in-stores. Security cameras are set to take on a range of improved abilities over the next five years, with the introduction of Internet Protocol (IP) for video security networks.

In a recent retailing article, Tony Lagan, national business manager video security at Sony Australia, said “IP security camera systems would allow retailers access to a suite of analytical products and options not previously seen on analogue systems. Everything is now going on a computer network when it comes to video security. There’s definitely a big push in the direction of IP, because there are so many advantages to it.”

Ip security cameras offer increased abilities to film specified times, locations and products, as well as filming point of sale transactions when camera system is triggered.

If you don’t want someone going to a certain area of a store, as soon as someone goes there the security camera system can send an email with an image directly to the store manager or security guard cell phone anywhere in the world. IP security cameras are able to be set up anywhere with a data port.   Lagan predicts the penetration of IP into business surveillance would be close to 50% by 2012.

How Infrared Security Cameras Work

Infrared security cameras have infrared LED lighting (light from a different region of the electromagnetic spectrum). Thses LEDs are installed around the outside of the lens a camera. The lighting allows the camera to capture a  images in no light at all, up to a certain distance depending on the number of LED’s used. With minimum light (or called low light) the infrared cameras can capture a picture that looks like it was takeen during the day. Business owners use infrared security camera systems for their businesses for after hours night time surveillance and viewing. During the nigh there is normally some light from the moon or street lights.

Infrared security cameras provide a color images durning decient lighting. During the evening the IR camera switches to infrared mode by switching on the IR LEDs. In this mode the image is captured in black and white. The light level required to capture a good picture is referred to as a camera’s lux, remember the lower the lux the better the camera can see in low light. Example a camera with 0.01 lux is not as good a camera with .003 lux. Infrared cameras should be considered to be zero lux in infrared mode.

If you are going add infrared cameras to a security camera system, use a outdoor weatherproof, bullet style IR camera. The outdoor housing will protect your investment from the weather. Remember a security camera system with weatherproof, bullet and IR cameras save you money in two ways, longer lasting and nighttime surveillance in low or no light.

Before you invest in a security camera system, there are a couple of things to consider. Think about the area you want to watch. How many security cameras you need for this area? Are you focusing on the inside or outside security or both? If you want surveillance in one room, then you only need one surveillance camera with or without a DVR. More than one area normally requires a 2, 4, 6 cameras or more requiring a complete security camera system.

Security cameras come either wired or wireless, and the setup you need depends on where you want to put these cameras.  Do you want them visible? Wired surveillance cameras can be a little hard to install, with the wires hampering your attempts to be discreet. One benefit of wired security camera systems is normally they have a higher picture quality than the wireless camera systems.

Outdoor Security Camera Systems

A bullet surveillance camera can be a reasonable solution for your outdoor surveillance needs, as they can survive the weather without any additional housing. Also bullet cameras can be small enough for covert uses. Security camera systems with outdoor bullet cameras can be a great fit for the exterior of a property where you need added surveillance.

Bullet cameras make an excellent choice for front porches, back doors, or even a garage door. Small wireless bullet cameras can be mounted on the side of a brick house close to the eves. These surveillance cameras might not be noticed until the individual had already been observed.

When your researching home security camera systems and wanting to preserve the overall look of your property then consider a home surveillance camera system with bullet cameras.

Wireless Security Camera
Wireless Security Camera

Wireless video surveillance systems can solve many problems where wired networks can be far too expensive. Wired Security systems can lead to expensive construction projects; video surveillance can be deployed in places where it would otherwise be cost prohibitive. However, wireless networks are limited by distance, obstructions and weather.

Wireless Security Systems Limitations:

1.      Band Width

2.      Distance between transmitter & Receiver.

3.      Obstructions between wireless camera and receiver. Signal can be absorbed by buildings and trees.

4.      Limited to the Number of Security Cameras you’re able to use.

By using a wireless camera system for video surveillance system, the financial benefit can be significant. But remember, a clear understanding of these limitations and when and where to use any wireless camera system should be a factored in the purchase of a wireless security camera system.
